It's odd, but the hills here make me happy. I love their thousand shades of green in the spring and their kaleidescope of colors in the fall. They're not big enough to be mountains, but I wouldn't love them so much if they were. Mountains are intimidating, but these Ozark hills are quite welcoming. Each one is begging you to hike up and share its view. I always imagined that a fairy-tale-sized giant would be very comfy to snuggle up to these hills and lie on the lush treetops.
I enjoyed being back home in Northwest Arkansas for the Dogwood Festival this weekend. All the dogwood trees were in bloom and Saturday was the perfect day for walking around downtown Siloam Springs with my family. Avee enjoyed the festival too. I ordered a dogtag for him from one of the vendors, but when they found out that my husband is deployed they gave me the custom-engraved tag for free. (One of the few perks of being a military wife.)
This is a picture of Avee and me at the festival. I know it looks like he's peeing, but he's not. He was creeping towards the edge to investigate that drop-off to Sagar Creek. Fortunately he wasn't brave enough (or depressed enough) to jump for it.

And if you ever visit the ballparks in Siloam Springs and your eye is drawn to the attractive large sign commemorating a 2007 state championship, please notice the last sponsor listed at the bottom. That's right, "Sara K. Design". My name and design work will hang on that fence for generations to come! Oh, and my little brother is pictured with the team; he was declared mvp for the state tournament after hitting four home runs... I'm kinda proud of that, too!
